Chicken?
What is a McDonald's Chicken McNugget? It's fried chicken, right? Wrong, it is actually 56% corn. Most of the ingredients in these McNuggets are corn, but there are a few unusual things put into this "chicken". They contain synthetic ingredients from a petroleum refinery or chemical plant. These chemicals in the food are to simply stop the food from looking bad after several weeks or months on the road or in the freezer. One of the chemicals is sodium
aluminum. It was added to the food to keep the animal and vegatble fats from turning rancid. There are also "anti-foaming agents" like dimethylpolysiloxne. This is added to the cooking oil to keep the chicken from producing foam during the fry process. The only problem with this is that it is adding a toxic chemical to the food and is also flammable. This is a danger to those who eat a McNugget or cook them. But that's not all, the worst ingredient in a McNugget is tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ). It is an antioxidant from petroleum. This will be sprayed directly on the nugget or inside the box it comes in to help preserve freshness. TBHQ is a form of butane which the FDA allow processors to use in our food. The problem with this is that ingesting even a single gram of TBHQ can cause many illnesses, nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation, and collapse. Ingesting even just 5 grams of TBHQ could kill you. Bet you'll think twice about what fast food restaurant you'll eat at next.
